The 43rd Course of the International School of Geophysics at the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture of ERICE is organized to honor the founder of the School, Enzo Boschi, who passed away on 22 December 2018, by reviving his dedication to all branches of Geophysics and to the training of young scientists.

The Courses "Frontiers In Geophysics for the third millennium" will be held the 16-20 March 2020 in Erice (Sicily).

The Course is organized by Boschi's colleagues from the University of Bologna and from the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia and has three fundamental goals:

  • honoring the memory of Enzo Boschi by recounting his accomplishments, both in basic research and in all areas of societal relevance he touched upon in his career;
  • providing an overview of the most recent accomplishments in the areas of Geophysics that were dearest to him, directly from the voice of about 20 top-notch Italian and international scientists, who will report on the state-of-the-art and on the perspectives of their disciplines for the third millennium;
  • creating a high-level forum for young promising post-doc scientists and PhD students, who will have the opportunity to meet leading scientists in their respective fields of expertise, thus reviving the goals and the atmosphere of previous courses of the International School of Geophysics.

Deadline for application: 19 January 2020.
